NARROW SLIT MECHANISM

The narrow slit mechanism is an experiment with dividing air that is directly oncoming to the slit. Unlike other edge blown flutes which blow air parallel to an edge so that the column of air can be cut in half, the direction of air on this mechanism is perpendicular to the edge that generates the oscillation of the sound. The system functions by forcing the air out of the mechanism edge with two options of edges for the air to flow into, the internal standing waves of the instrument force the air in and out which correlates to sides of the slit.
